Jig head
Sometimes when fishing in current or even the flats you need to get your bait down a bit. This is a great use for a jig head. Use anywhere from a 1/8 to 1/2 ounce jig head. Make sure the bait is hooked in a way that will create as little drag as possible. You also want the bait to appear as natural as possible. Usually this is through the head/mouth/nose in some fashion.
